Celebrate 20 Years of The White Stripes' Get Behind Me Satan with Vinyl Reissue

The White Stripes are back with a special 20th anniversary vinyl reissue of their iconic album 'Get Behind Me Satan.'

Announcing the Vinyl Reissue

20th Anniversary Vinyl Reissue

The White Stripes have just announced a highly anticipated 20th anniversary vinyl reissue of their legendary album, Get Behind Me Satan. This exciting re-release celebrates the album that marked a significant evolution in the band's sound.

Originally unleashed in 2005, this fifth studio album will be available in a stunning 2LP special edition. It features a beautiful mix of one red smoke vinyl and one clear vinyl infused with red and black smoke. You can get your hands on this special edition starting June 27 through Third Man Records. Pre-orders are available now, and you can grab yours here.

A Step into the Creative Process

The recording of Get Behind Me Satan took place in the stairway of Jack White's home in Detroit during the early months of 2005. What’s remarkable about this album is that it pushes the boundaries of The White Stripes’ trademark minimalistic sound. They decided to incorporate a variety of instruments like piano, marimba, timpani, mandolin, and bells, significantly reducing their reliance on electric guitar riffs.

The album features the fantastic singles ‘Blue Orchid’, ‘My Doorbell’, and ‘The Denial Twist’. It not only won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album but also sold over 900,000 copies in the US.

Critical Acclaim

In a review from NME, the album was rated 8 out of 10. They highlighted the album’s unique sound, stating, “It all adds up to an initially disorientating listen, since the only traditional-sounding White Stripes tracks are the bluesy ‘Forever For Her (Is Over For Me)’ and the aforementioned ‘Instinct Blues’. The Led Zep and Queen influences paraded on ‘Elephant’ have been traded in for Fifties exotica (thanks to heavy use of the marimba) and stuff that defies genre altogether.”

“This is a very brave record, but ultimately one which, after many listens, becomes as beguiling and seductive as old Nick himself. In a world of fakers, careerists, and time-servers, The White Stripes are the real, strange, artistic deal.”

Recent Updates on The White Stripes

Additionally, The White Stripes have been inducted into this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside notable artists like Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, and Soundgarden. This recognition is a testament to their profound impact on the music industry.
