A Brief History of Clipse

Pusha T and Malice were brought together by Pharrell Williams in their hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia, during the mid-1990s. The duo quickly gained attention for their sharp punchlines about their street hustle past, backed by the Neptunes’ pop-infused production that helped set them apart in the rap world.

However, the duo went on a long hiatus in 2009 after Malice decided to step away from the music scene and focus on religion. This decision was influenced partly by a federal investigation that led to their manager’s arrest.

Meanwhile, Pusha T carved out a successful solo career, signing with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music in 2010. His 2018 album DAYTONA—produced entirely by Kanye West—hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.

Clipse Reunion and Recent Performances

After years of focusing on solo projects, Clipse reunited at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards, much to the delight of their fans. Since then, they have performed at several concerts, including an appearance at the prestigious Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona last year.

This reunion marks an exciting new chapter for Clipse, combining their sharp lyrical storytelling with that signature Pharrell production once again.

"Pusha and Malice were brought together by Williams in their hometown of Virginia Beach, practicing slick punchlines about the drug dealing escapades of their youth over the pop-skewed production of Williams’s own production duo, the Neptunes."
