Evanescence, Spiritbox & Poppy Unite for ‘End Of You’ Collab: “It’s the Start of Something”
Three powerhouse voices blend arena rock, metalcore, and pop in a groundbreaking collab that’s setting the stage for more.
If you’re a fan of rock’s modern queens, the recent collaboration between Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante, and Poppy is nothing short of electrifying. Their track ‘End Of You’ dropped with a bang on September 4, weaving together the distinct vibes of three iconic vocalists into a major musical event. Trust me, this isn’t your typical collaboration — it’s a bold, genre-bending anthem that feels like the dawn of a new era.
A Visual and Sonic Journey You Can’t Miss
The music video for End Of You is as mesmerizing as the song itself, whisking viewers through a cinematic kaleidoscope: from an eerie movie theatre to a dark tower, a crystalline palace, and an emerald hallway. Each setting perfectly mirrors the evolving moods of the track.
Amy Lee opens the scene with her haunting verse, setting a tone rich with emotion. Then Poppy swoops in on the second verse, offering her distinctive flair. Courtney LaPlante’s signature screams shatter the breakdown, culminating in a powerful shot of the trio standing united, side by side — a visual symbol of collaboration and strength.

How ‘End Of You’ Was Born: A Perfect Storm of Talent
The seed for this collaboration was planted by Poppy and Jordan Fish—former Bring Me The Horizon member and now a go-to metal producer. Jordan, who produced End Of You and Poppy’s Negative Spaces album, connected the dots.
Poppy shared, “I knew he was friends with Amy, and I thought she would really be a great person to meet and get to talk to. It was mine and Jordan’s idea to start with, and then we thought, ‘What if we made our version of a dark Moulin Rouge, like ‘Lady Marmalade’?’”
Amy Lee was already working with Fish on other projects and was intrigued by the idea. “It was literally the concept of, ‘Let’s just get us all together,’ that started the song, which is really fun,” she said.
The writing process sounds like a fascinating blend of friendship and creative fusion. “Poppy and Jordan came over to my house and we flushed a lot of it out together,” Amy recalled. “The first verse came to me mostly cooked, the part that I was going to start the song with. It’s funny, because Poppy wrote my words and I wrote hers.”
Adding to the mix, Poppy’s drummer and guitarist laid down drums and bass, Jordan and Mike Stringer (Spiritbox’s guitarist and Courtney’s husband) added guitar layers, and Courtney topped it off with her intense vocals—layer upon layer, like a perfectly stacked cake.
A Fusion of Styles: Heavy Meets Melodic
The track itself is a dynamic rollercoaster: soaring arena-rock anthems blend effortlessly with glitchy, modern metalcore, and piercing heaviness. It’s a brilliant showcase of each artist’s signature sound rolled into one cohesive masterpiece.
Poppy put it best: “We all have a different shade that we bring to not only the equation, but multiple genres. It’s our own flavour, colour, and ingredient.”
Lyrically, End Of You revolves around the empowering mantra, “The end of you is the start of life for me.” Poppy explains, “It’s more of a universal message. I don’t want to classify it, but I know what it means to me. Watching the video of all of us together, it feels strong and powerful: ‘Imagine the things they can do when they’re united!’ It’s grounded in strength.”
Amy Lee connects deeply with this line, seeing it as a rallying cry to break old norms and “take on the patriarchy.” She elaborates, “In order to make way for the new, we have to let some old ways die, and I don’t feel that should be as hard as it is. I love change... It’s about challenging the norms and showing how strong we are when unified as women.”
From Viral Mix-Up to Studio Magic
Before this studio gem, Courtney LaPlante and Poppy already shared a quirky connection: at the Grammys red carpet, an interviewer mistakenly introduced Courtney as Poppy—and she played along with it. They also performed Spiritbox’s “Soft Spine” together live at Kentucky’s Louder Than Life Festival last October, but End Of You marks their first official studio collaboration.
Courtney praised the dedication behind the track: “Instead of just dreaming about it, Poppy really went for it and made it happen. Instead of half-assing it, Amy went full out and crushed it. All I can do is rise to the occasion and show them the respect they deserve, that they have also shown to me.”
Dreams of More Music & Live Shows?
Courtney has openly expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations with Poppy and Jordan Fish, hinting at more creative jams down the road: “There is always going to be some way that we work with Jordan, because both of us really like collabs… Maybe it’s not [Spiritbox’s] song, but we could help him with another artist.”
Though End Of You was mostly crafted remotely—between Amy’s Nashville home and various sessions—the music video shoot in Los Angeles was the first time all three artists met in person. Courtney described the day as “so fun” despite being an 18-hour marathon, with plenty of laughter and high spirits.
Amy likened their trio to “the representation of the eras of life, your 20s, 30s, 40s – and the spirit of each.” She shared, “I am definitely at the, ‘I’m done giving a fuck what anybody thinks’ phase, ready to just take over the world, and that spirit is a little bit of a flow-through.”
She’s especially proud of how they all embrace femininity within heavy music. “It’s about taking femininity, embracing it and bringing it into a world of heavy music, rather than be masculine, rise to that and just match. I think that both of them really do beautifully embrace that femininity. Courtney’s stage presence… she’s flitting across the stage, as cool as can be, and then to be able to scream like that?”
Courtney returned the admiration with a smile, “Those two do something historic every year – break a record, go on national television. I’m sure we are gonna do good!”
Tour Dates: Where to Catch Them Live
Coming up, Poppy will be opening for Evanescence at three US shows, creating the perfect chance to eventually bring End Of You to the stage. Spiritbox’s September schedule is lighter but includes Louder Than Life Festival, just days before Evanescence plays there.
Though fans are eager, Amy Lee and the crew are clear that a live debut of the song will need to include all three of them. Amy said, “I hate to give away that it’s not happening [this month], but I might as well rip the rug out so people aren’t asking for it up until showtime. We thought about it, but we really want to do it with Courtney.”

Looking Ahead: More to Come?
Poppy hints that End Of You is “just for now,” but leaves the door open. “I do feel like the song is so exciting that it deserves its time first. It feels like people are ready for it. I feel like it’s the start of something.”
Amy added a playful touch, talking about potential fun beyond music: “Now we’re in the phase of, ‘What fun things can we do together?’ I don’t want to give it away in case it works out, but we were joking about game shows that we could possibly go on. I’m not kidding. We’ll see what fun shenanigans could come out of this collab!”
She ended on a hopeful note: “It would be so rad if we could do a tour together… there’s a lot of schedules to work around. I don’t know if a full tour would ever happen, but we are determined to create a situation where we can play the song live.”
Final Thoughts
It’s thrilling to witness three dynamic artists with distinct styles come together to create something fresh and powerful. For fans craving a blend of soaring vocals, heavy riffs, and heartfelt lyrics, this collab hits all the right notes.
Will this be just a one-off, or the birth of a rock supergroup? Time will tell — but I, for one, am ready to ride this wave wherever it goes.
