Hayley Williams Launches New Band Power Snatch With Fresh EP Release

Hayley Williams dives into a new musical chapter with Power Snatch, unveiling their debut EP packed with nostalgic vibes and fresh sounds.

When you think of Hayley Williams, your mind probably zips straight to Paramore’s infectious energy or her striking solo debut. But just when you thought she’d rest on those laurels, Williams has surprised us all again—this time by stepping into a new band called Power Snatch. Their debut, EP1, dropped recently, and it’s a fascinating blend of Williams’ signature style mixed with fresh experimental beats that pull you in from the get-go.

Hayley Williams’ Bold New Project: Power Snatch

After the unexpected release of her hefty 18-track solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party last year, Hayley Williams clearly isn’t slowing down. Power Snatch is her latest venture, and if the debut EP1 is anything to go by, fans are in for an exciting ride.

The EP is available on Bandcamp and various streaming platforms, where it’s already turning heads with its raw, punchy energy. Joining Williams in this project is producer Daniel James, who also contributed to her Grammy-nominated solo album. Their collaboration feels intimate yet bold, a perfect match for Williams’ evolving artistry.

Inside EP1: A Nostalgic and Experimental Soundscape

The six-track EP1 kicks off with “DMs,” a song that first appeared last December and serves as the band’s introduction to the world. It’s got that enticing mix of electronic beats and Williams’ unmistakable vocal grit. Then there’s “DUH,” a standout track layered with piano and breakbeats that stir up memories of house shows and youthful escapades.

I’m reminiscing about house shows and hanging out with band dudes twice my age, Williams croons, tapping into a time when music felt like home and every night was an adventure.

The EP also ventures into more abstract territory with “HOLE IN THE CEILING,” which pushes the boundaries of typical song structure into something wonderfully oblong and unpredictable. This experimental streak makes Power Snatch feel like a playground for Williams to explore new musical ideas without limits.

Recognition and Reflection: Grammy Nod and Future Plans

Williams’ solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party didn’t just capture fans—it caught the Grammy committee’s eyes too, earning nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance (for “Parachute”). Although she didn’t take home the awards this time—losing to The Cure’s landmark Grammy wins—Williams expressed heartfelt respect for the legendary group on social media.

We’d like to thank the Academy, Williams said with grace. And it’s an honor to lose to The Cure anytime.

Looking ahead, Williams is gearing up for a packed solo tour kicking off in Atlanta on March 27 and wrapping up in Dublin on June 30. She’s also teasing at least one special North American live show, sparking curiosity among fans who can't wait to see what she’ll bring to the stage next.

A New Chapter Unfolds

It’s fascinating to watch an artist like Hayley Williams continually reinvent herself. From Paramore’s powerhouse alt-rock anthems to her solo album’s introspective vibes, and now with Power Snatch’s experimental energy, Williams proves she’s not just a voice of a generation but a fearless musical explorer.

If you’ve ever been captivated by the thrill of discovery in music, EP1 by Power Snatch offers just that—a bold step into the unknown while staying rooted in those heartfelt, relatable moments that Williams is so masterful at conveying.
