Razer Nommo V2 Pro Review – Stunning Gaming Speakers That Impress

Experience immersive sound and sleek design with the Razer Nommo V2 Pro, delivering powerful bass and crystal-clear audio for gamers and audiophiles alike.

A Quick Dive into Razer Nommo V2 Pro

I was genuinely bummed out when I had to return the original Razer Nommo Pro gaming speakers review unit. Those speakers were absolute beasts, setting an incredibly high standard that few have managed to surpass since. I began to wonder if Razer would even dare release a worthy successor.

Thankfully, Razer never settles, and the Nommo V2 Pro gaming speakers proves just that. Believe it or not, this follow-up to what I consider Razer’s best PC speakers is even better than the original. The sound quality has improved—cleaner, louder, and with an immersive depth that pulls you right into your games or music. Plus, it’s a bit more space-friendly on the desk, which is a bonus.

It's even more commanding than the impressive Razer Leviathan V2 Pro soundbar, whose subwoofer once had my neighbors asking me to turn down the volume at just 15%. I shudder to think what they’d say now with the Nommo V2 Pro taking residence on my desk!

Design Overhaul with Performance in Mind

Let’s talk about what you get: a room-shaking downward-firing subwoofer plus two satellite speakers, just like the original. But while the first Nommo had cylinder-shaped satellites and a rounded subwoofer, the V2 Pro ditches that for a more angular square sub and stripped-down satellites without those top cylinder tweeters. The result? A cleaner, more sophisticated look that fits better in a modern setup.

Though I wouldn’t call the Nommo V2 Pro “compact,” the design tweaks definitely save desk space, which is appreciated. Plus, fewer cables clutter the area thanks to a fully wireless control pod that no longer ruins your neat desk aesthetic.

The Wireless Control Pod: More Than Just Volume

Speaking of the control pod, it’s fully customizable and compatible with other Razer gear. If you have a full Razer rig on your desk, you can tweak settings like mouse DPI right from this little controller, consolidating your gear management into one sleek interface. Of course, it handles speaker volume and settings flawlessly too.

For connectivity, USB to PC or laptop remains the best option, but Bluetooth is on board as well, letting you pair the system with your phone, tablet, or even a Nintendo Switch.

Ambient RGB Lighting Takes a Leap Forward

The RGB lighting on the Nommo V2 Pro steps up big time. Instead of a thin light strip wrapping around each satellite’s base like the Nommo Pro, there’s now a hefty four-inch dome on the back of each satellite. This casts a soft, colorful glow on the wall behind your setup, transforming your gaming space with ambient lighting.

You can customize this RGB glow to sync with your audio or even the visuals on your screen, which adds a neat immersive effect. It's a much more impactful solution than before, flooding your gaming nook with mood lighting that reacts to the action.

Syncing with Razer's Chroma and Synapse Apps

The lighting reacts to what's on your screen, but honestly, it could be sharper and brighter in this mode. The RGB zones are bright but dim a bit when reacting to visuals, and the effect isn’t perfectly precise in matching the action. I tend to prefer other lighting effects available in Razer’s Chroma and Synapse apps because you can layer effects for even more stunning results.

Speaking of the Synapse app, it’s user-friendly and essential if you want to get the most out of the Nommo V2 Pro. You get a 10-band equalizer to tweak every frequency by up to ±12 dB or pick from five presets—including a fully customizable option if you want to dive deep.

Game-Ready Profiles with THX Excellence

The app also features THX profiles tailored for popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy. By selecting the THX Environmental Mode for these games, the Nommo V2 Pro automatically switches sound profiles when you launch them. It works seamlessly; sometimes you can even hear the subtle shift in audio during game loading.

Even without any EQ fiddling, the stereo sound of the Nommo V2 Pro blows me away. Trebles are crisp and detailed, mids are rich without overwhelming your gameplay, and the downward-firing subwoofer delivers punchy bass that resonates deeply.

Spatial Audio That Makes a Difference

The soundstage is impressively wide even in stereo mode, although how you place the speakers matters. Positional audio is sharp—you can pinpoint where each sound is coming from and track moving sounds easily.

But turn on THX Spatial Audio, and the difference is night and day. This technology is expertly implemented, widening the soundscape and wrapping you in immersive audio without the artificial echo or reverb that some spatial systems add.

Volume-wise, the Nommo V2 Pro has more than enough juice. Crank it to 80%, and you’ll want to back away a few feet to protect your ears. And if you’re thinking of late-night blasting, maybe give your roommates or neighbors a heads-up—you’re in for a sonic feast they won’t easily forget.

Pricing and Availability — Worth the Investment?

  • Price: $449.99
  • Available Since: June 2023
  • Where to Buy: Widely available

Here’s the good news: the Nommo V2 Pro is priced more reasonably than its predecessor. While it’s not exactly budget-friendly, it’s a bit cheaper than the original, coming in at $449.99.

To put it in perspective, it’s $150 less than the SteelSeries Arena 9 gaming speakers, a pricier 5.1 system that can easily empty wallets at nearly $600. But compared to Arena 7 or Razer’s own Leviathan V2 Pro soundbar ($399.99), the Nommo V2 Pro is a bit on the higher end.

Still, when it comes to premium sound, quality often costs more—and this system delivers better audio than either the Arena 7 or Leviathan V2 Pro.
