Shudder to Think Announces Fall Reunion Tour Across the U.S.

Get ready for an electrifying fall as Shudder to Think hits the road for their first U.S. tour since 2008, bringing their signature post-hardcore fusion to cities nationwide.

A Triumphant Return to the Stage

If you’ve ever been captivated by the raw energy and genre-bending sound of Shudder to Think, then you’ll be thrilled to know that the band is extending their reunion with a U.S. tour this fall. Kicking off on September 19 at Riot Fest in Chicago, the tour will feature nine dates, winding down in Los Angeles on November 11. Tickets for this much-anticipated run went on sale August 22, and as a longtime fan, I can barely contain my excitement!

Shudder to Think performing live, full band on stage

There’s something magical about witnessing a band like Shudder to Think live — those intricate guitar lines, Craig Wedren’s unmistakable vocals, and a rhythm section that knows how to weave alternative rock, post-hardcore, and even glam into one seamless experience. The current lineup features frontman Craig Wedren, guitarist Nathan Larson, drummer Adam Wade, guitarist Clint Walsh, and bassist Jherek Bischoff. Just thinking about seeing this dynamic group together again sends a thrill down my spine.

From Indie Roots to Major Label Oddities

Shudder to Think's journey began on Dischord Records, the legendary D.C. indie label where they dropped early gems like Funeral at the Movies and Get Your Goat. Their sound was already distinct—complex, emotionally charged, and unapologetically unique. Then came the leap to Epic Records where, in 1994, they unleashed Pony Express Record,

arguably one of the most unconventional major-label debuts ever. It was an album that defied easy categorization and showcased their off-kilter brilliance.

Though their 1997 follow-up, 50,000 B.C., received a mixed reception, it didn't diminish their cult status. Ultimately, the band parted ways, leaving fans longing for more — until now.

New Music on the Horizon

Hearing that Shudder to Think is not only touring but also working on new material is music to fans’ ears. Craig Wedren shared insights into the band's creative process during this reunion:

“We’re trying to do this in a very organic way that works for everybody’s individual lives and collective health... It’s a more multi-dimensional, accordion-esque creative process rather than just being in a room, working on the song, playing the songs live and recording the songs. The intention is to hopefully have a record done within a year from now — next summer or fall or something like that. If it winds up being a series of EPs or singles, it doesn’t really matter. We just want to make new Shudder to Think music together, and we’re documenting it all.”

— Craig Wedren

It’s fascinating to see how modern technology like shared ProTools sessions allows them to collaborate even when apart. This openness and flexibility likely bring a fresh energy to their sound, while still honoring the essence that made them special.

A Glimpse Back and a Leap Forward

For those who have followed Shudder to Think since the early days, this reunion feels like catching up with an old friend who has evolved yet remains wonderfully familiar. Their blend of post-hardcore intensity with alternative and glam elements was groundbreaking, influencing countless bands that followed. Seeing them perform “X French T-Shirt” live this past March at Los Angeles’ Permanent Records was a reminder of why their music still holds up — it’s both intricate and visceral.
