The Maccabees’ Triumphant Return to the Stage

The band’s return was celebrated first at an intimate charity gig on June 20, followed by a series of exclusive European warm-up shows. The big highlight was their headlining set on the Park Stage at Glastonbury 2025 on June 29.

During this memorable festival moment, The Maccabees were joined by Florence Welch for stunning renditions of “Love You Better” and “Dog Days Are Over.” The performance earned rave reviews, with critics giving it a glowing five-star rating.

“It’s only when finale ‘Pelican’ rolls around that the bliss that covers The Park stage starts to slowly fade. It feels too soon for The Maccabees to be leaving after living without them for so long, but the hour they spend on stage is perfect and not to be taken for granted.”
— Music Reviewer

Frontman Orlando Weeks shared his excitement backstage at Glastonbury, highlighting a personal milestone: “It’s the first time my son’s going to see me sing, on a stage anyway. So that’s exciting for me.”

Behind the Scenes: Rehearsing the Comeback

Back in January, The Maccabees invited the press to their rehearsal space, where it quickly became clear that the band’s chemistry hadn’t missed a beat. Guitarist Felix White described the feeling perfectly:

“It’s so strange. In the chunk [of time] from the last show, you could conceive of The Maccabees as a different existence, but as soon as we started playing, it was as if we hadn’t stopped.”
— Felix White

Regarding the possibility of new material, White mentioned the band’s cautious approach: “The plan is to do [All Points East] and see how much we love it.” Drummer Sam Doyle added with humor, “We might hate each other by August.”

Orlando Weeks expanded on the close-knit bond, saying, “Everything we built together as people is very connected to being in a band. We’ve been able to achieve relationships outside of that, but there’s a totally other level of comfort in each other’s company when this is the reason we’re hanging out.”
