Nick Banks Rocks Out with Pulp’d Tribute Band

Pulp’s iconic drummer, Nick Banks, surprised fans by joining the tribute band Pulp’d for a live rendition of the legendary hit 'Disco 2000' in Sheffield this past weekend. The gig took place at the Fake Festival, hosted in the scenic Endcliffe Park on Saturday night, May 10th.

Banks, who has been the backbone of Britpop legends Pulp since 1986, took to the stage with Pulp’d and immediately captured the crowd’s hearts. Sharing his excitement on social media, he posted:

"Joined Pulp tribute band last night Pulp’d for a tune at Fake Festival at Endcliffe Park. Had a blast!"

The event’s host cheekily introduced Banks, saying, “Can you believe this? This is something quite special, it definitely makes Fake Festival history. Because nobody in Fake Festival history has ever had a member of the band that they are tributing get on stage and play a song with them.” Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime moment!

And here’s another clip capturing the electric atmosphere when Banks joined the tribute band:

Before jumping behind the drumkit, Banks humorously warned the crowd, “This could all go horribly wrong, you do know that, don’t you?” Luckily, the jam went off without a hitch and was met with roaring applause from the audience.

The tribute band expressed their gratitude after the event:

Pulp’s Long-Awaited Comeback

While fans were thrilled to see Banks in action with Pulp’d, the real Pulp has been equally busy preparing their eagerly anticipated comeback. Their new album, More, is set to release on June 6 via Rough Trade, marking their first album in 24 years.

The band dropped the lead single ‘Spike Island’ back in April, and vinyl fans can grab that track starting May 23. You can pre-order both the album and single through Rough Trade’s official channels.

Pulp’s frontman Jarvis Cocker shared with BBC 6 Music that the record has been finished for some time, but the wait felt incredibly long for both the band and their fans.

“Playing live was a big influence on it – that we played and the songs came back to life,” Cocker said. “We did play one new song towards the end of the tour and no one threw stuff at us or left to go to the bar. We chose to do it quickly… it wanted to come out.”
